Check Scanner Installation

When I install the check scanner I get an error 1904, Scanner did not register. If I bypass the error, I can't do anything on the program. It says exception ActiveXHost thrown. What should I do?

Rainelle, do you get the green light when opening the Rock check scanner app? If not, the application (and Windows) may not be detecting the scanner, which may indicate a driver issue.

I found the Ranger Driver for our Canon CR-50 to be reliable once installed, but tricky to get installed correctly.

Here is the process we use to install the scanner on a Windows computer:

Configuring a new computer and user for use with Rock's Check Scanner App and a Canon CR-50

This process will involve multiple reboots. A Windows Computer is required (preferably with Internet Explorer available)

    1. Make sure the scanner is not connected to the computer
    2. Download and install the Canon Ranger Driver for the scanner
    3. Restart the computer
    4. Uninstall the Canon Ranger Driver (yes, you read that correct)
    5. Restart the computer
    6. Install the Canon Ranger Driver
    7. Restart the computer (you guessed that, right?)
    8. Run the Rock Check Scanner App installer (ask a Rock Admin for this, it's found under Power Tools)
    9. Restart the computer
    10. Verify the Canon Check Scanner is powered on, and plug it in to the computer
    11. Open the Rock Check Scanner app and login. After logging in, the round circle in the upper right of the app will turn green when it is connected to the computer and communicating with the Rock Check Scanner App

It says error 1904: Ranger.ocx failed to register. I installed the ranger driver, restarted the computer, and downloaded the rock check scanner. Still no luck

I'm having trouble install the ROCKRms Check Scanner. I'm actually using the Magtek Scanner. Once its installed there a red light and I can't save any of the tool setting because it says exception thrown

The red light in the Rock Check Scanner App indicates that communication between the app and the scanner is not good. I am pretty sure you can't use the Canon Ranger driver with magtek.

In my experience this is always a driver issue. I would look for ways to make sure that your Magtek driver is installed correctly. I don't have any magtek experience, I would assume Magtek support has methods of making sure the driver is correctly installed.

I'm aware. I used the Magtek driver and scanner with the application on a computer before and had no trouble. But this week when I went to install the rock rms scanner software to another computer after the installation process ran before I hit the finish button is says error 1904....Ranger.ocx did not register. If I hit ok and then finish once I open the program it says exception thrown. I haven't had this problem before the newest update. But now on any computer that I try to install the application it says failed to register

    Rainelle,

Not sure if you've tried this....if you right-click the installer (.exe) and Run As Administrator, that should register the ocx files properly.
