Welcome

The Rock Community

Community is the key to your success with Rock, and we strive to foster community both in your local area and all over the world. There are several Regional Communities across the U.S., where Rock teams come together to learn from each other, strengthen relationships and offer support. Reach out to info@sparkdevnetwork.org to find out if there’s a regional community near you.

We are all part of ONE Community and we have a set of core values that inform how we interact with one another. Our core values are humility, unity, generosity and empathy, and practicing these core values makes a HUGE difference in the health of the community. You can see these values in action every day in Rock Chat, where our community comes together to help and support one another.

Making The Most Of Chat

The community is most active in Rock chat. It’s an incredible source of knowledge and help with every Rock issue you can imagine. Many community members are happy to talk you through how Rock might work at your church, or even take you on a “tour” of their systems. The Rock Community members are a generous and caring bunch, and everyone started as a beginner, so don’t be afraid to ask for help! Before long, you’ll be jumping in to answer questions yourself.

Here's a few tips for using the community Chat:

Read Profile Badges

Badges tell you a lot about a person in Rock Chat. Look for Rock Stars who know their way around and are frequently found answering questions. You'll find Vendors, too, who offer services to Rock churches. Be sure to look for a Partner or Sponsor badge for any vendors you connect with. Partners and Sponsors are fully supporting the Rock community. Vendors without that notification do not share the same level of commitment or community values.

Use Keywords

If you’ve got a question, most likely, someone else did too. Search for keywords in the search bar to help you find prior conversations about specific topics.

Use Channels

View all the channel options. Got a question about event registration? There’s a channel for that. Rock Stars and community members who are well versed in specific topics often monitor the many topical channels, so you’ll get help from those who know that subject best.

Reply in Thread

It’s easiest for others to help answer your questions if you put new comments into the same thread, rather than just in the chat channel. Use the reply button to keep all comments part of the same conversation.

Show Appreciation

We have a community points system to recognize community members who are offering help. You can award points to people who help you by tagging their name and adding ++. These points mean a lot to our community so be sure to give them out thoughtfully.

Just Start

Don’t be intimidated by a Rock Star badge or someone who seems to know a lot. We all share a common goal of serving the Church, and we all want to help each other grow. Everyone here had to get started somewhere, just like you.

Get Involved

There are lots of ways you can get involved with the Rock Community, starting with answering questions in RocketChat and following Rock on social media, all the way through becoming a Beta Tester for the newest version of Rock. Check out the Get Involved page to learn more about how you can help the community grow. Plus- you’ll earn community points and start your journey to Rock Stardom!

Don’t Miss the Conference

The Rock Experience conference is the annual celebration of the community each year. We come together for two days of in-person training on best practices and helpful tips and tools. The conference is a great time to connect and build relationships with other Rock admins who will be continued support as you build your Rock knowledge.
