Package Description
Cairn builds on Rock's excellent Following system with fourteen additional event components, named for the stacked stones that guide followers along a path. Following is one of Rock's best pastoral tools — follow a person, get a nightly digest when something matters. Cairn adds more kinds of "something matters," and extends the same pattern to two new followed types: groups and registration instances.
Follow a person and hear about more anniversaries, milestones, and transitions:
- Date Attribute Anniversary — annual recurrence on any Person date attribute: sobriety date, salvation date, whatever you track
- Milestone Birthday — birthdays with an Nth-year multiplier, in the spirit of core's Anniversary event (10th, 20th, 30th…)
- Serving Anniversary — annual recurrence on the date they first joined a group type
- Data View Match — any persisted Data View becomes a following event
- Left Group of Type — a membership went inactive or was archived
- Entered Connection Opportunity and Connection Request Connected — the connection lifecycle, by opportunity or whole connection type
Follow a group (the star on Group Detail) and hear when members are added or removed, when a past occurrence still has no attendance entered, or when the group itself is inactivated or archived.
Follow a registration instance (the star on its detail page) and hear about every new registration, when registrations reach a threshold percent of capacity, and when the close date is approaching — a follower-based complement to the instance's built-in notifications.
Install is light: no tables, no pages, no blocks, no jobs. One DLL, and a config-only seed creates fourteen inactive starter event types with full notification templates already written — photo, linked headline, contact lines, matching the style of core's own following notifications. Edit a starter and activate it, or copy it. Every component is labeled (cairn plugin) in the dropdown so it's easy to tell alongside core's, and every notification links to the person, group, or instance it's about.
Notifications ride Rock's existing Send Following Events job and daily digest — no new infrastructure to configure. Documentation — user guide, technical spec, uninstall — lives at yesu.dev.
