Purpose Church is a church of 150 members located in Phoenix, AZ, and is a church plant of CedarCreek Church in Perrysburg, OH. Purpose Church opened its doors in January 2023 and simultaneously launched Rock cloud hosting.

Why Purpose Church Chose Rock

Purpose Church elected to use Rock over other church management software systems as they knew it would be their long-term platform. With prior experience through their sending church, they launched on Rock cloud hosting from day one. This decision ensured their growth is never limited by outdated systems, bringing their entire digital experience together to better serve their community and eliminate the frustration of disconnected tools.

Rock is such a comprehensive program that can be customized for any church. There is a great community to reach out to when you need assistance and help.

Purpose Church’s Implementation

Purpose Church’s implementation took approximately 6 months and coincided with the church’s launch. Because the church began with a small team of 50 people, the primary focus during implementation was building a website and learning Rock.

Launching with Rock from the beginning allowed Purpose Church to establish a unified foundation, focus on learning the system in depth, and build ministry processes without the complexity that often accompanies multiple tools.

The Key to a Successful Implementation

Purpose Church launched on Rock with a clean foundation and avoided many of the common challenges that slow down adoption and distract from digital ministry.

Their approach can be a model for all churches, whether you're a new plant or have multi-site campuses. If you're migrating from another system or consolidating multiple tools, choosing a clean starting point with your data can greatly simplify implementation and create clarity for staff, volunteers, and members.

Rock cloud hosting supports this kind of intentional reset by removing technical complexity and allow churches to focus on how they will conduct ministry.

Being able to organize hundreds of people across multiple events, then being able to text and email them right from Rock made the process so much easier for us.

Rock in Everyday Ministry

For Purpose Church, some of the most impactful features in Rock have been Connections, Group Management, and Communications. These features, and more, have allowed Purpose Church to care for its members by tracking and guiding their spiritual journeys.

Most recently, Purpose Church has leveraged Sign-Ups in Rock to both capture volunteer information and streamline communication. This allows staff to manage volunteer engagement efficiently in one platform, eliminating the need for additional tools that previously complicated and slowed down the process.

This challenge is one familiar to all churches. Coordinating volunteers, managing sign-ups, and communicating at scale to the correct audience are common pain points. Rock is designed to bring these processes into one place, saving your team time and providing clarity and confidence.

The Role of Community and Stewardship

Today, Purpose Church gives at the suggested rate to support Rock’s development, and their origins reflect Rock’s collaborative nature. Even without a sending church, you can rely on our community, classes, and documentation to help your church achieve sustainability and growth on Rock.

What would you say to a church similar to yours that is considering switching to Rock?
