Note v17.2

More Fiscal Analytic Source Date Improvements

In Rock v17.2, we’ve made additional improvements to how fiscal dates are calculated—building on the initial changes introduced in v17.0  (see Improved Fiscal Week Calculation)  . These updates help Rock better align with standard accounting practices, especially around fiscal weeks and related reporting fields.

Previously, Rock’s fiscal week calculation could result in shortened or misaligned weeks around the transition between fiscal calendar years. That behavior has now been corrected.

Several other fields—like FiscalMonth, FiscalMonthNumberInYear, FiscalQuarter, and FiscalHalfYear—have been adjusted to reflect proper fiscal values when transitioning between fiscal years. Specifically, days that fall in the Fiscal Start Month before the official fiscal year begins (based on a four-day workweek rule) are now correctly attributed to the prior fiscal period.

Example

If your fiscal year starts in April, and April 1, 2022 falls on a Friday, the new fiscal year wouldn’t begin until the following Monday—April 4. As a result, April 1 would still be considered part of the previous fiscal year, and its related values in the AnalyticsSourceDate table would reflect that:

This might look surprising if you're not familiar with fiscal calendars—but rest assured, it’s accurate and intentional.

What This Means for You:

  • Some dates may now belong to a different fiscal month, fiscal year, fiscal quarter, and fiscal half year than before.
  • If your reports use these fiscal column values, review them to ensure alignment with the new calculation.

Possible Action:

If you use Rock's BI tools and have a fiscal start month other than January, you will want to regenerate your calendar dimensions and it's a good idea to check your fiscal reports for any shifts in week assignments.
